Day 292

Isaiah 66:1-2 Thus says the LORD, “Heaven is My throne and the earth is My footstool. Where then is a house you could build for Me? And where is a place that I may rest? “For My hand made all these things, Thus all these things came into being,” declares the LORD. “But to this one I will look, To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.

We received some unexpected news late on Monday. The Roger Peace Center will not accept David for treatment until we are sure that his room is within 2 weeks of being completed. (We are still waiting for notification of financial assistance from the Disabilities Board.) The Peace Center was prepared to admit David the end of this week, until I told them that we are probably 6-8 weeks from completing the room. Their reasoning is that they will not release him after treatment back to the nursing home. Also, the implication from them is that he would only be in in-patient therapy for 2 weeks. This also was unexpected; we thought he could stay as long as he was progressing.

Not being sure where the Lord is leading us, I contacted Shepherd Center in Atlanta yesterday. I asked if they ever readmitted patients. They do. We have arranged for a video evaluation of David from Summit Place on Monday morning. Please pray that God will make it clear to us what we are to do.

The therapists at Summit Place are continuing to challenge David. Yesterday they asked him to write his name on the white board. He wrote a “d”!! Today a young man played “Stairway to Heaven” on a guitar. David had been dozing and he became very alert and began to move his arm and fingers. When his visitors left, he waved good-bye in his own special way.

We hope to begin work in earnest on David’s room this weekend. Robert has taken the next 2 weeks off from church and could probably use help at various times. We will try to return to daily updates to let those of you who have offered to help know what kind of help we need.

Thank you again for your prayers, manual labor, and financial assistance.

Titus 2:11-14 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.
