Day 177

Psalm 78:1-8 Listen, O my people, to my instruction; Incline your ears to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings of old, Which we have heard and known, And our fathers have told us. We will not conceal them from their children, But tell to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, And His strength and His wondrous works that He has done. For He established a testimony in Jacob And appointed a law in Israel, Which He commanded our fathers That they should teach them to their children, That the generation to come might know, even the children yet to be born, That they may arise and tell them to their children, That they should put their confidence in God And not forget the works of God, But keep His commandments, And not be like their fathers, A stubborn and rebellious generation, A generation that did not prepare its heart And whose spirit was not faithful to God.

David had a good week - he had a visit from Dr. Caroline Price, his dermatologist, who prescribed some medicine and some fascial washes to help David's acne. He is also scheduled to see a neurologist and a ENT sometime soon. We are also waiting for another possible reconstructive surgery on his right eye area. A "POTENTIAL" FIRST THIS WEEK - Rebekah (David's 20 year old sister and momma Jenny were visiting with David. He was not being particularly responsive so Rebekah threatened to tickle his feet (which he doesn't like) and he said (according to both Jenny and Rebekah): "NNNNNoooooooooooo" - if that was what he did, it would be his first word since the accident almost one-half year ago (on the 22nd of this month). We are grateful to God for all small improvements. We are also thankful to all of you who remember David in prayer, write us cards, call us, visit David (or us), those that prepare meals, help us with the renovations, contribute financially, and a 1000 other acts of kindness. We marvel how people that do not have such loving family and friends make it through such a test!! Please continue to pray!!! We have been invited to Riverside High School (where David, Daniel, and Katie graduated) this Wednesday to receive one-half the money raised by the High School in their charity competition with another high school. The other half will go to the memorial scholarship fund for Jennifer Cannada, a classmate of David's who was killed one month after his accident. Pray for her family as they must contend with the trial of the murderer.

Proverbs 3:5-12 Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your body And refreshment to your bones. Honor the LORD from your wealth And from the first of all your produce; So your barns will be filled with plenty And your vats will overflow with new wine. My son, do not reject the discipline of the LORD Or loathe His reproof, For whom the LORD loves He reproves, Even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.
