Day 242

Psalm 46:1-11 God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea; Though its waters roar and foam, Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, The holy dwelling places of the Most High. God is in the midst of her, she will not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns. The nations made an uproar, the kingdoms tottered; He raised His voice, the earth melted. The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our stronghold.Come, behold the works of the LORD, Who has wrought desolations in the earth. He makes wars to cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariots with fire. “Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our stronghold!

We have some encouraging news on several fronts. David went to a doctor who had seen him briefly in ICU last July. She made some changes in medications to hopefully allow him to be more alert and responsive. She plans to start other treatments after David's outpatient eye surgery on February 2. The therapy team at Summit Place seems to be willing to be more agressive in working with David. A new friend, who sought us out and is a physical therapist, encouraged us in her opinion that David could be progressing even more with agressive therapy. She was able to get David to do thing that he has never done since the accident. These things are very encouraging. Dr. Toma, a physiatrist (rehab doctor), wants David to have a 2 week "test" at Roger C. Peace Rehab Hospital here in Greenville (the "Shepherd Center" of Greenville). We are very excited about this opportunity. On the home front, work on David's room continues, though far too slowly (esp. for Jenny). A friend, Scott Sheffer, built the brick foundation wall for David's room and he is willing to help pour and finish the concrete. There are so many details that have to be considered (several that I am working on right now - termite protection and radon reduction, the type of floor covering for David's room, bath, etc., and a thousand other details. Work is scheduled to begin on the siding and new windows this week. Please keep visiting and encouraging David. Please continue to pray for him and for us: for his cognitive improvement, ability to move, stand, walk, eat, and speak. Pray for his Spirit and his encouragement. Pray for us as we work with David, his caregivers, and for his short and long term needs.

Revelation 19:11-16 And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses. From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty. And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
