Day 308

Genesis 6:5-8 Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. The LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. The LORD said, “I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, from man to animals to creeping things and to birds of the sky; for I am sorry that I have made them.” But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD.

Though we don’t have definitive news about David’s eye surgery and admission to rehab, I just want to let everyone know what is happening at the Spears’ house.

Monday, we received word that Shepherd Center in Atlanta would not admit David. OK. Door closed! On Tuesday, I contacted David’s rehab doctor with my concern that without intensive therapy and possibly splinting or casting, the effect of the (very expensive) Botox injections would not be maximized. Her nurse told me to contact Roger Peace and I did. They still asked about the completion of his room and I told them that I hoped within 3 weeks. She said that they would begin the admission process. YEA! (I think.) It looks like it will be sometime next week.
There seem to be many logistical hold-ups on the eyebrow surgery and the next step towards his prosthetic eye. Both have been tentatively set for April 15.
David’s therapists at Summit are determined to have David advance as much as possible before he leaves! Yesterday, Myrna brought in an electric guitar and amplifier. David played a concert for all who would come! Several people who saw him said he was obviously smiling.

Construction Central: The Disabilities Board finally awarded the contract for the conversion project to one of the friends who bid on the project. So, on Tuesday and Wednesday concrete was poured for the floor and ramp area of David’s new bedroom, bathroom with roll-in shower, and the hallway connecting his suite to the not-yet-built garage. We are continuing to work on other projects around the house and to prepare to pour the foundation for the new garage. Robert began framing the walls for David’s room today. I am encouraged to see tangible progress!

Psalm 147:1 Praise the LORD! For it is good to sing praises to our God; For it is pleasant and praise is becoming. The LORD builds up Jerusalem; He gathers the outcasts of Israel. He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds. He counts the number of the stars; He gives names to all of them. Great is our Lord and abundant in strength; His understanding is infinite. The LORD supports the afflicted; He brings down the wicked to the ground.
