Day 402

Galatians 3:10-14 For as many as are of the works of the Law are under a curse; for it is written, “CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO DOES NOT ABIDE BY ALL THINGS WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF THE LAW, TO PERFORM THEM.” Now that no one is justified by the Law before God is evident; for, “THE RIGHTEOUS MAN SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.” However, the Law is not of faith; on the contrary, “HE WHO PRACTICES THEM SHALL LIVE BY THEM.” Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is written, “CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE”— in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we would receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Sorry that we have not updated the site recently - we had "Summer Spectacular" at Second Presbyterian this week - what a week = a combined Bible, Music and Sports camp for K4 through college and young adults (the children and youth through 8th grade from 9-5 everyday and High School up from 6 til ??? ) We had over 130 during the week. The topic was "Knowing our AWESOME God" - if any of you not at Second Presbyterian want an Excellent curriculum for a VBS, Nancy Johnson wrote an entire curriculum divided into 3 age groups (plus a completely separate curriculum for the Sr. Hi's and up) with teacher answer books. Write me an e-mail and I will tell you how to get in touch with Nancy to get the curriculum - it is excellent!!

anyway, both Robert and Jenny have been very tired this past week.

David is doing well, and improving weekly (though in very small steps) - He is getting more flexibility in his right arm and leg and even marginally better in his left arm and leg. His neck muscles remain a problem = the baclofen is injected in his spine at the base of his neck so it doesn't have much if any effect on the tightness of those muscles. Please pray for wisdom for us and David's caregivers to know how to proceed.

We (especially Jenny) are getting better at taking care of David. The rest of us are improving too (Rebekah is currently in Peru for a week on a short term mission trip.) The tasks are not too intense (there are a few exceptions) but they are constant from early in the morning until late evening (usually about 11:00 pm -12 midnight). We are getting nursing aide help for 8 hours a day and about 9 therapy visits a week and 1 nursing visit to assess David's health. We have requested a nutritional consult to verify that David is getting the nutrition he needs. The specialist who fit the front piece for David's prosthetic eye is scheduled to come on Tuesday and an "official visitor" from the court system will come on Wednesday to check on David and our home situation. This is a preliminary for us to be declared David's guardians (since he is a 19 year-old adult) - We are also setting up a Special Needs Trust for David's care - pray that we are wise and prudent in our decisions reguarding David's finances.

The construction work continues, albeit slowly - especially during Summer Spectacular and it has been raining a lot here. Robert is working all this week trying to get David's room completely finished and getting the garage complete for the siding and window contractor to come next week.

Please pray for David's continued improvement - Spiritually first, mentally, physically, emotionally - thank you for your prayer support and your many kindnesses.

Matthew 5:1-12 When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain; and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him. He opened His mouth and began to teach them, saying,
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
“Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth.
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
“Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
“Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.
“Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
