Day 371

Psalm 112:1-7 Praise the LORD! How blessed is the man who fears the LORD, Who greatly delights in His commandments. His descendants will be mighty on earth; The generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in his house, And his righteousness endures forever. Light arises in the darkness for the upright; He is gracious and compassionate and righteous. It is well with the man who is gracious and lends; He will maintain his cause in judgment. For he will never be shaken; The righteous will be remembered forever.

We had a "round table" (literally) meeting with David's doctors (2), therapists (~6), nurse (1), social workers/case managers (3) and parents (2- I think!). First, the really important news and answer to prayer - David stay at the Rehab hospital has been extended until Wednesday, June 2!! We thank our God for specific answers to specific prayer requests - thank you for praying with us. We hope to have all the inspections done on David's room by Tuesday. Second result of the meeting - listening to all the doctors, therapist, nurses and others involved with David really encouraged us overall - the had all set specific, attainable goals for David in their respective fields. As we listened to them, one-by-one, it became apparent to us that David had met or exceeded almost all of their goals There were a few exceptions, but that is to be expected. They all agreed that David needs continuing care and therapy and think that he needs to go home (get out of the hospital environment) and receive home therapy. Please pray with us for the following:

1) For good, faithful, knowledgeable therapist and nurses
2) For favorable rulings by insurance and medicaid to fund this at-home care at a high level.
3) For our strength, patience, wisdom, compassion as we bring David home.
4) For the completion of David's suite, the new garage, and other projects around the house so that we can concentrate on David and his care and therapy. Also please pray that the inspectors will be kind, gentle, and possibly blind so that we can get all the permits for occupancy.
5) For quick approval by the state Dept. of Disabilities of the low bid for the handicap modifications on David's van - we need the van asap - it will still probably take 4-5 weeks after approval!!
6) For David's continued improvement - esp. for our wisdom in deciding about possible leg/knee surgery to allow more freedom of movement. Several top orthopedic doctors have examined David's legs and leg joints over the past 2 days and they seem to think that there are some surgeries that can improve his life. They are planning to take x-rays and/or other diagnostic pics to determine what will work best.

If anyone in the immediate Greenville area has some time available over the next few days, we have a lot of details to take care of before David can come home. Some are unskilled, many are semi-skilled (painting, etc.) and some are skilled (carpentry).

Revelation 11:15-17 Then the seventh angel sounded; and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever.” And the twenty-four elders, who sit on their thrones before God, fell on their faces and worshiped God, saying, We give You thanks, O Lord God, the Almighty, who are and who were, because You have taken Your great power and have begun to reign.
