Day 255
Philippians
1:2-6 Grace to you and peace
from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank my God in all my
remembrance of you, always offering prayer with joy in my every prayer
for you all, in view of your participation in the gospel from the first
day until now. For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began
a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
We have several items of good news and praise to
God. First, David had his eye surgery this morning and it went very
well. Dr. John Siddens, the opthamologist who has performed all the
previous reconstructions
of David's injured eye, was very pleased with the condition of David's
eye when he began the surgery. He only had to do two minor procedures -
to correct a defect in the tear duct system that he had rebuilt earlier
and to build up the inside corner of the eye. He was very pleased with
his work!! He did such good work, David didn't even need a bandage. Dr.
Siddens plans on one more minor procedure that can be done at his
office under local anesthesia and in about 2-3 weeks, he should be able
to make the prosthetic eye frontpiece to complete the reconstruction.
We also expect David to enter rehab at Roger C. Peace rehab in
Greenville sometime in the next 2-3 weeks. He will be on a 2 week trial
period, if he makes good progress, he will be able to stay longer.
Please pray for his continued improvement - in body, mind, and Spirit.
Pray for us as we continue to try to locate and provide the best
therapies and procedures for his recovery. Please pray for decisions
about the renovation and that the work will be completed soon (probably
still at least 6 weeks away - at best) Thank you for all your prayers
and other provisions for us.
It was amazing to be back at Greenville Memorial today (where David was
in ICU for 2 months) and to see how far he has come - but to also
understand how far he has to go. We praise God for His gracious
provisions for us and in us.
John 7:37-39 Now on the
last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out,
saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who
believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will
flow rivers of living water.’” But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom
those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet
given, because Jesus was not yet glorified...
John 14:15-21 "If you
love Me, you will keep My commandments. I will ask the Father, and He
will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is
the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not
see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and
will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
After a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see
Me; because I live, you will live also. In that day you will know that
I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. He who has My
commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves
Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose
Myself to him.”
