Day 313
James 5:14-18 Is
anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and
they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord;
and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the
Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven
him. Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another
so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can
accomplish much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed
earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three
years and six months. Then he prayed again, and the sky poured rain and
the earth produced its fruit.
Well, David is IN Roger C. Peace Rehab hospital (part of Greenville
Memorial Hospital in Greenville, SC.) The day started out with us thinking
that everything was set for David's transfer to Roger Peace but when Jenny
arrived at Summit Place this morning, we received word that our health insurance
had refused to pay for the Rehab hospital. We prayed and appealed the decision
and by about 1 pm we received word that they had reversed their decision
and were tentatively approving his admittance. We received final word of approval
at about 3 pm. By 4:15 Jenny and I (in separate vehicles) were following the
medical transport with David for the 20 mile trip from Summit Place to Greenville
Memorial. We were favorably impressed by our initial reception at Roger Peace.
The nurses and therapists we met seemed competent and intent on helping David
improve. PLEASE PRAY THAT DAVID WILL IMPROVE SIGNIFICANTLY IN THE NEXT 2
WEEKS SO THAT HE CAN CONTINUE TO RECEIVE INTENSIVE THERAPY. HE WILL BE RE-EVALUATED
WEEK-BY-WEEK FOR CONTINUED PARTICIPATION IN THE PROGRAM AT ROGER PEACE REHAB.
Please pray for our endurance and patience. Pray that Jenny will learn everything
we need to know to bring David home. Pray that Robert would have the strength
and wisdom to complete David's room soon (He received approval from the session
of Second Presbyterian Church to take most of the next few weeks off to work
on the renovation)
Our time with David at Summit Place seems to be over. We are
very impressed with that Nursing facility and would like to publically express
our appreciation for all they did for David and for us. They are a wonderful
group of people and were very kind and helpful to us in our hour of need.
They even gave David and Jenny a going away gift: a video monitor so that
Jenny can keep up with David even when she is not in the room. It should
be very helpful to us. If you ever need a great nursing facility, Summit
Place is the place.
Malachi 3:16-4:6 Then those who feared
the LORD spoke to one another, and the LORD gave attention and heard it,
and a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the LORD
and who esteem His name. “They will be Mine,” says the LORD of hosts, “on
the day that I prepare My own possession, and I will spare them as a man
spares his own son who serves him.” So you will again distinguish between
the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does
not serve Him. “For behold, the day is coming, burning like a furnace; and
all the arrogant and every evildoer will be chaff; and the day that is coming
will set them ablaze,” says the LORD of hosts, “so that it will leave them
neither root nor branch.” “But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness
will rise with healing in its wings; and you will go forth and skip about
like calves from the stall. “You will tread down the wicked, for they will
be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day which I am preparing,” says
the LORD of hosts. “Remember the law of Moses My servant, even the statutes
and ordinances which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel. “Behold, I
am going to send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and
terrible day of the LORD. “He will restore the hearts of the fathers to their
children and the hearts of the children to their fathers, so that I will
not come and smite the land with a curse.”
