Day 317
John 12:12-17 On the next
day the large crowd who had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus
was coming to Jerusalem, took the branches of the palm trees and went
out to meet Him, and began to shout, “Hosanna! BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES
IN THE NAME OF THE LORD, even the King of Israel.” Jesus, finding a young
donkey, sat on it; as it is written, “FEAR NOT, DAUGHTER OF ZION; BEHOLD,
YOUR KING IS COMING, SEATED ON A DONKEY’S COLT.” These things His disciples
did not understand at the first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they
remembered that these things were written of Him, and that they had done
these things to Him. So the people, who were with Him when He called Lazarus
out of the tomb and raised him from the dead, continued to testify about
Him.
Wow! We have certainly been on
a roller coaster ride this week. The therapists at Roger C. Peace worked
aggressively with David on Thursday and Friday. Some of the time was spent
with them asking me about David: his hobbies, likes and dislikes, personality.
But most of their time was spent in seeing what David can do. I was encouraged
that they seemed surprised and encouraged, especially by his quick responses
to their commands. The speech therapist, Jennifer, is concentrating on a
consistent method for communication and also is working on seeing if David
is ready for “real food.” The recreational therapists are trying to find
ways for David to do some of the things he did before the wreck. On Friday,
Kimbo was surprised that David could process information and respond correctly
in a very short amount of time. The physical therapist, Shawn, is working
on many aspects of David’s treatment: planning for serial casting, range
of motion of his arm and neck muscles, headrest on his wheelchair, and
more. The nurses are working on various aspects to “normalize” David’s
daily routine.
Today Rebekah spent a long time
with David. He seemed tired during much of his therapy, so she decided to
work him when they got back to his room. She gave him her cell phone and
told him to “phone home.” She told him to punch the first number of our phone
number. He punched a “2” (which IS the first digit of our home number. He
continued to correctly dial all but the last 2 digits of our number!!!
Robert, Daniel,
and very good friends have finished framing the walls and are almost finished
with the rough electrical and plumbing, so sheetrock should begin soon.
If you want to help. We can use almost any and all skills, especially Tuesday
through Friday during the day. (But Saturday is a good day too!!!)
2 Peter
1:4-10 whereby he hath granted unto us his precious and exceeding great
promises; that through these ye may become partakers of the divine nature,
having escaped from the corruption that is in that world by lust. Yea,
and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith
supply virtue; and in your virtue knowledge; and in your knowledge self-control;
and in your self-control patience; and in your patience godliness; and
in your godliness brotherly kindness; and in your brotherly kindness love.
For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to be not idle
nor unfruitful unto the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he that
lacketh these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten
the cleansing from his old sins. Wherefore, brethren, give the more diligence
to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall
never stumble:
