Day 382

Isaiah 61:1-3 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise

We are home!!!!!

1) David came through the eye surgery well. It turned out to be quick and relatively minor work - Dr. Siddens was pleased with David's healing and only needed to do a few minor changes. He seems to have recovered almost fully from the procedure. We are now waiting for the specialist to come and "measure" for the final front piece for his prosthetic eye. (Hopefully in a few weeks he will have all this complete!!)
2) David seems to be doing well and enjoying being home. We had several of his friends over on Saturday along with his older brother (Daniel) and sister (Rebekah) and David was in the middle of them all. He was smiling and laughing at their jokes and conversation. He still is a "people person"!!!
3) We (especially Jenny) are finding out how much work it is to take care of David 24-hours a day! He has to be fed 5 - 6 times a day, cleaned, dressed, moved to his chair, etc., etc. etc. We really haven't received any significant help with the physical aspects of his care - we are still waiting on "nursing aide" assistance. We have had one physical therapy visit, one occupational therapy visit, and one nursing visit. We would really like to have significant nursing aide assistance (6-8 hours a day), 2-3 therapy visits a day (PT, OT, and ST) and weekly nursing visits. We are still working on all this. Please pray with us for this. Getting help is a maze!!!
We hope to have the van back in about 2-3 weeks!! Pray for a fast turnaround!! 4) We finally received word that state funding was approved for David's van modifications. The local Department of Disabilities employee that has been helping us has volunteered to go and pick up the van in Summerville, SC, and take it to Columbia, SC!! That will save us almost a whole day of travel time!!! Thanks Cindy!!!!!!!
5) We have several decisions to make about David's health including possible surgery to loosen up his ankles and knees. Please pray for wise counsel and our decision-making progress. Please pray for us as we minister to David physically, mentally, and spiritually!!

Philippians 4:4-7 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
