Ephesians 4:11-16 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets,
and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the
equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of
the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and
of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of
the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. As a result, we
are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and
carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by
craftiness in deceitful scheming; but speaking the truth in love, we
are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ,
from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every
joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual
part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in
love.
We have several pieces of good news to report to you:
(1)
David's prosthetic eye "frontpiece" (like a thick, large contact) that
matches his good eye, was finally placed into his eye at St. Francis
Hospital with Dr. John Siddens overseeing the whole process and Mr.
Gorrin. Mr. Gorrin came back today and is going to "adjust" the color
on the
prosthetic eye to more closely match David's good eye. David will still
need some more work on his eye in the future.
(2) David continues to receive therapy 3 mornings per week by a speech
therapist (also includes eating), physical therapist, and a
occupational therapist (mostly arms and hands)= they all are hopeful
for progress and are energetic in caring for David.
(3) Serial casting is used to help David gain more flexibility and
range of motion. He is supposed to begin serial casting on his right
arm (his good arm) tomorrow. Pray that he will be able to gain
additional flexibility and range of motion.
(4) He continues to eat well by mouth and we are down to just 2 cans of
liquid nourishment per day (from 10). For the first time he fed himself
a little last night at church - he picked up a piece of macaroni and,
with a great deal of difficulty, put it into his mouth. Then he did it
about 3 or 4 more times!!!
(5) David is sleeping a little better, but still wakes Jenny up several
times a night. We are still waiting for the seminary student to get the
necessary training so that he can stay with David 3 or 4 nights a week
- hopefully in a week or two.
(6) The speech therapist continues to work with David on his tongue
movement (so that he can chew more solid foods) and on making
fundamental sounds for talking. He is still using "uh-huh" and a
"thumbs-up" or "thumbs-down" to direct us. He seems to have VERY good
memory and cognative ability. He follows conversations, jokes, TV
programs, and movies. We
really like it when he laughs - which he does to jokes, comedies, and
funny recollections of the past (esp. those involving him).
(7) We continue to use the van alot even though we still don't have a
title, registration, or tag. We are making "slow" progress in those
areas. Pray for us!!!
(8) We and David are making progress in many areas. Pray that we don't
grow weary and that we get good advice and help. Pray esp. that Jenny
will be able to get some good sleep!!!
(9) Other news: the siding and windows on the garage addition should be
up by next week. Then the gutters are to be put on. Yeah!!!
(10) Thank you for praying, writing, calling, making meals, cleaning
house, and a thousand other kindnesses!!!
Ezekiel
36:25-27 “Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be
clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your
idols. “Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit
within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and
give you a heart of flesh. “I will put My Spirit within you and cause
you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My
ordinances.
