Day 170
Phillipians
3:1-14 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same
things again is no trouble to me, and it is a safeguard for you. Beware
of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the false
circumcision; for we are the true circumcision, who worship in the
Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the
flesh, although I myself might have confidence even in the flesh. If
anyone else has a mind to put confidence in the flesh, I far more:
circumcised the eighth day, of the nation of Israel, of the tribe of
Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the Law, a Pharisee; as to zeal, a
persecutor of the church; as to the righteousness which is in the Law,
found blameless. But whatever things were gain to me, those things I
have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count
all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ
Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and
count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, and may be found in
Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but
that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes
from God on the basis of faith, that I may know Him and the power of
His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed
to His death; in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the
dead. Not that I have already obtained it or have already become
perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I
was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Brethren, I do not regard myself as
having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies
behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the
goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
David
has his ups and downs like the rest of us. He continues to struggle
with pain (the cause is not always apparent) and his temperature
continues to fluctuate. When he is in pain and has a high temperature,
he is usually unresponsive. Sometimes the pain and high temps seem to
be related. We are waiting for a consult with a neurologist and and
Ear, Nose and Throat specialist. It is possible that he will have more
reconstructive work on his injured eye sometime within the next month.
Jenny and I and Daniel continue to complete projects that we started
when we intended to sell the house. We also are near to finalizing the
plans to convert our garage into a bedroom, ADA bath and closet for
David and to build a new garage so that we can transport David in
inclement weather. Please pray for David's continued recovery
especially that his pain will subside and that his temperature will
stabilize. Please pray for him to gain cognitive control of his limbs
and voice. Please pray for us as we work hard on the renovations
necessary to bring David home. Some additional
family news: Rebekah, David's 20 year old sister received her Black
belt in Karate over the weekend in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She
also won a second in sparring and a third in forms.
John
14:1-6 “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also
in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not
so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go
and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to
Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. And you know the way
where I am going.” Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You
are going, how do we know the way?” Jesus *said to him, “I am the way,
and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
